De staffordshire-bulterriër is een middelgroot, kortharig hondenras, dat oorspronkelijk gefokt werd voor het stieren- en berengevecht. Honden die zich in het hondengevecht bewezen hadden werden met elkaar gekruist. Uiteindelijk ontstond zo de huidige staffordshire-bulterriër.
